Steve Taylor was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1976 to Norman and Ann Taylor. At eight years of age, Steve moved with his parents and older sister, Noreen, to Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Calvary Chapel Christian Academy in 1993. The following year, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild AFB after completing basic training and Aerospace Ground Equipment technical school in Texas.

Steve received an Associate of Arts degree from Spokane Falls Community College during his active duty service and attended Eastern Washington University following his discharge from the Air Force. In 2000, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Economics from EWU and is currently working toward his Masters Degree in Public Administration through his alma mater.

Fifth Congressional District Rep. George Nethercutt hired Steve in 1999 to open his first Spokane Valley office. Over the next 5 ˝ years, he served Rep. Nethercutt as a field representative, constituent liaison, and Eastern Washington campaign director in both official and electoral capacities. Steve is currently the Director of Investor Relations for HuntMountain Resources, a publicly-traded precious metals exploration firm managed by Tim Hunt, owner of Spokane Valley-based Huntwood Industries.

Steve Taylor was elected to the inaugural Spokane Valley City Council in 2002. Steve, working alongside his fellow councilmembers, helped build Washington State’s 8th largest city from scratch. He has served on the Council’s permanent Finance Committee since 2002 and championed the city’s assumption of the Mirabeau Point community and natural area complex as well as participation in the Spokane Regional Tourism Promotion Area.

Steve currently serves on the following boards and commissions: Spokane Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau, Spokane Regional Tourism Promotion Area (ex-officio), Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce (ex-officio), Inland Northwest Technology and Education Center (INTEC), Spokane County Growth Management Steering Committee of Elected Officials, Spokane Valley Arts Council, Spokane County Housing & Community Development Advisory Committee, and National League of Cities Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Steering Committee

Steve Taylor is a Precinct Committee Officer and former Treasurer for the Spokane County Republican Party. He has served as Chairman of the Spokane Area Young Republicans and earned the Washington Young Republican Federation’s “YR of the Year Award.” He sits on the Washington College Republican Federation’s Executive Advisory Committee and has participated in over two dozen campaign efforts in the state.

Steve is married to Cassandra Dibler of Nine Mile Falls, Washington and they are members of Greenacres Baptist Church.
